Why Alder & Hale.
The alder is a pioneer tree. It is among the first to grow on disturbed ground, and it enriches the soil so that everything after it grows stronger.
Hale is an old English word for robust good health, as in “hale and hearty”. Together they describe what we hope to be for the practices we serve: an early, steady presence that leaves the ground in better condition than we found it.

Founded in Brisbane, for Brisbane.
Alder & Hale was founded in 2026 by a postgraduate student in health management and leadership who kept noticing the same thing: the practices doing some of the most important work in our communities were the least likely to have access to structured, independent advice.
Large consultancies rightly focus on hospitals, insurers and government. Independent GPs, allied health clinics and community organisations are left with vendor pitches and well-meaning guesswork, just as AI and digital tools are changing what a well-run practice looks like.
So we built a small firm to fill that gap: a carefully selected team of postgraduate health management, business, data and clinical students, working under a disciplined engagement model with experienced advisers in support, and offering our work pro bono or at low cost.
Four commitments we will not trade.
One problem, properly
We agree one question that matters and answer it well, rather than skimming ten.
Evidence over opinion
Interviews, data and walk-throughs before recommendations. Always.
Safe by design
De-identified data only. No clinical advice. Every engagement in writing.
Measured outcomes
We return after six to eight weeks to measure what actually changed.

Supported by an advisory board.
Each engagement is overseen by the Founder and reviewed by an advisory board drawn from practice ownership, academia and professional consulting. Board members lend experience, challenge our thinking, and help us catch what students alone might miss.
Advisory board appointments are being finalised and will be announced here.
Every lasting change begins with one honest conversation.
Tell us what is keeping you up at night. We will tell you, candidly, whether we can help.
